Icy blues and wintry grays combined with deep, earthy tones filled the Karigam Fall and Winter 2016 show in a fluid presentation of stunning outerwear and tailored pants that inspired us for amping up our own office attire with a bit of asymmetry and on-trend ankle lengths. Our favorite bottoms featured front zips that end just below the knee for something different, yet sophisticated from our usual, somewhat boring work slacks. If you prefer to play the opposing side, choose from a variety of supple leather bottoms with zips coming down the thighs. Not into pants? There’s several skirting options in multiple lengths for your own preference, all created with the same fabrics and leathers.
On the top of our wish list for this coming fall is Karigam’s high funnel neck coats for keeping the biting wind chills at bay. We couldn’t decide between Gamez’s deep forest green featuring leather sleeves of the same lovely shade or a warm wool number with a interesting uneven hem. If we could have our ultimate choice, it would be both!
Altogether feeding off the minimalism expected from Creative Director Karina Gamez, she explained that her recent collection “looked to the natural world around her to get to know herself again without distractions and to reset the mind…rich, mixed textures and colors reminiscent of nature’s many layers and, specifically, the rock formations, flowing water, and lush plant life found surrounding the breathtaking Angel Falls (Venezuela).”
